FWIW, there can definitely be a baseline power level for “services rendered.” Like the warlock already did things for the patron for the power they already have, and any additional power request are conditional on more actions or continued obedience. Depending on the group, some may be excited to help the warlock or at least not mind them having to do patron favors, but it can be unfun for some because the monk isn’t getting the same opportunities/obstacles for their abilities. Just depends on what works for the table IME.

That’s fair and very true on the table. However… now I’m trying to think of ways to apply that to monks and other classes as well. Maybe similar to oathbreaking in a way. Your ki doesn’t line up anymore as you’re starting to drift from your original goals and you’ve got to realign with behavior or find a new path to walk?
RAW, perhaps, but it’s never made sense to me (as a DM) that you are given a contract by a warlock that you can break with no repurcussions.
