If you’re going to visit family up in the backwoods, the options you listed aren’t really viable. At least not for us.

And I don’t think you can drive 8 hours before recharging. Say you have a battery of 120 kWh, which is absolutely massive. And let’s say you’re driving at higher speeds like 100+ km/h, maybe you’ll be doing around 20 kWh/100 km consumption rate (that might even be generous depending on the car, especially in the winter). Finishing the battery from 100% to 0% would be (units in italics) 120 kWh ÷ 20 kWh/100 km × 100 km ÷ 100 km/h average speed = 6 hours of driving. And then your car needs to be towed at 0 percent charge left. 🙃

1. I said Zelenskyj is in the right. He is fully in the right to question Vance with valid questions. But I’m also saying that if you want to negotiate with monsters, you might not want to embarrass and anger them in front of their own people, live on TV. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ Feels like politics 101.

Not just them, but a lot of the car platforms coming out of China right now, including Volvo cars. I have an EX40, which has a lot of physical buttons, and a physical lever for the glove compartment (🤯), but when I tried the EX30 I was blown away by the poor driving experience. So crappy. Everything is done via the screen, and it sucks. Not even a speed indicator in front of the driver, but you have to glance over to the center screen.

Also the one-pedal drive was really bad on the EX30, but that’s another story. I also hated the gear lever behind the wheel instead of a stick between the driver and passenger seat.

Zelenskyj had every right to question Vance the way he did, but it wasn’t the right time to do so if he wanted their respect.

It was disrespectful. It hurts me to concede this point. I didn’t want it to be true but I had to see the cause for the fight breaking out, and I hate to admit that it was Zelenskyj who put Vance on the spot in front of everyone like he was on trial, and put him to shame. That’s not something you want to do when you’re trying to make a deal for your people.

Zelenskyj has too much of a backbone, unfortunately. Respect to him, for standing up against bullshit, but it was definitely a case of picking your battles.

I’m pretty sure when people say that they mean “save the [current state of the] earth [so we can continue living on it together]”.

There is a lot in here that I don’t understand.

1. What’s wrong with Moxie? You mean it’s weird he’s an emeritus and not part of the board?
2. What’s “much more questionable” about the other people? From the descriptions on that page they all seem like standup people.
3. Could you explain the “relative proximity to some in the US establishment” bit? That was too vague for me to grasp.

Honestly, there was nothing at all in there that I understood, due to how vague it all was. I would appreciate it if you or someone could fill me in here, because it’s important to know who’s driving this thing, and if the platform can be trusted. I just want to not go by some vague rumors before I make up my mind.

Right, that’s the sure-fire way. But if a platform is better in some way than another, I’m inclined to use it, as long as it’s morally just to do so.

I like Bluesky because it’s more like Twitter was. But I like Mastodon because of how liberated it is. So I’ll use both, probably, until Bluesky turns to shit (or doesn’t).

I think that is incorrect in my case. Plex did not come preinstalled on my TV – I installed it via the LG app store on the TV itself. Same with Jellyfin. I have both, and they both update when there are updates available. I have the latest versions.

My TV supports direct play, both in Jellyfin and Plex, so I am streaming 4K HDR with Dolby 7.1 over WiFi 6 without any buffering issues ever. Streaming is not the issue. The navigation lag and startup time for Plex only is the issue.

Why is it a problem? If a tool is good now, I’ll use it now.

I don’t stop myself from buying a new axe just because it’ll break eventually, you know what I mean?

Although obviously if there was an axe that never would break, I’d buy that! But maybe there are trade-offs. Maybe the never-breaking axe has a complicated handle or something. I don’t know, I’m trying my best with the axe analogy to describe Bluesky vs Mastodon. 😅 Hopefully it’s clear enough!

I use the one for WebOS on my LG TV.

The web client and Android client are lighting fast compared to the TV. Like normal apps loading normal content.

The TV app on the other hand takes like 20 seconds just to get past the splash screen, and then another maybe 10 seconds to show first content. And navigation is laggy af. Just absolutely brutal.

Someone once said this is intentional to get you to buy new TVs. I don’t know. Not all apps do this. Jellyfin e.g.
