  • I think we are looking at this from different angles. I think you are looking at the programmer perspective, and i am looking at the end-user perspective, who uses a GUI file explorer.

In the case of a GUI file explorer the search handles the case insensitivity. So for me using Dolphin in KDE if i have two files:

TEST.txt and test.txt, if i type “tes” on my keyboard, i will be given the uppercase one first. if i type “te” again, it jumps to the next fitting entry, which is test.txt. If i put “test” or “TEST” in the search bar, i will get back both results.

I see why a strictly case insensitive file system makes it easier for programmers down the line to not have to handle the different cases explicitly in their program anymore.

  • Mostly Windows, and construction industry. So projects generate anywhere from a few hundred to up to a hundred thousand files.

Everyone has their own filesystem, and then you often have one formal and multiple informal exchange platforms. You still have people throwing around stuff in E-Mails too.

It is a mess. But in this mess i didn’t come acrosse people complaining they couldnt find a file because of the letters case yet.

I see that it could be different for programmers, but i dont see that apples solution of treating upper and lowercase as identical name is the solution there, rather than working with explicit file naming conventions in the program.

  • if you look for a file you type the first letters for the file explorer to jump to the matching name. Retype to jump to the next fitting entry. If you don’t know about this, you can put your string in the search field. If you don’t know about this, you can sort by metadata like file size or date of last change.

    It is a non problem.

Also most workplaces tend to develop a file naming convention, either explicitly or implicitly.

  • The PA is generally recognized as the government for the West Bank and supposedly all of Palestine, however defacto they are just the extended arm of the Occupation. They have been assaulting resistance forces and civilians in Jenin throughout December already, murdering a Palestinian Journalist and torturing people, among other things.

The PA is part of the “we want a peaceful solution” facade that Israels allies placate, while manifesting the occupation and annexation further.

  • It is very much applicable.

Second, resistance doesn’t have to be a dramatic act. It can be a small act, like losing a sheet of paper, taking your time processing something, not serving someone in a restaurant. Small acts taken by thousands have big effects.

Fourth, part of the third point really, sometimes the best way to do things is right out in the open. Because no one will believe something like what you’re doing would be happening so blatantly. All good Social Engineers know this.

Five, bide your time. But be ready for opportunity when it strikes. Again, your action need not be dramatic. Just a little sand in the gears helps.

Every government needs to work. It depends on its loyalists to give it financial and organizational support in exchange for economic benefits.

So anything that interferes with the “normal” order of things is an act of resistance. Also don’t get fooled into the idea, that you will resist once things reach a certain threshold. By then you will feel what needs to be done to be way to big for your own abilities, since you never trained and tried to do anything.

Start with something easy like putting up political stickers around your town. That sounds easy in concept, but you already will train yourself to be brazen, but also on alert if someone politically opposed to you might want to challenge you verbally or attack you physically. You life close to an amazon warehouse? Why not skip a green phase, when the delivery trucks are lined up behind you?

Speaking of Amazon, we see with the Resistance for Palestine, that Boycotts work. Making a point of not buying products from companies that support the Israeli regime can be expanded to also making a point of not buying into the Trump government.

  • As it stands in terms of manifested actual political effects, not virtue signaling and token efforts, Trump managed to push for the ceasefire Biden was unwilling to apply pressure for.

We will see, how the politics of Trump look, when it comes to material on the ground effects, but Biden proudly stood by and gave more bombs while watching daily how women and children are murdered with them and millions of people have their everything destroyed.

So so far Trump did much more for Palestinian lifes than Biden. That is not a big achievement of Trump. It just shows that Biden indeed is genocide Joe, who chose every day to continue this, despite all it taking to end it being a phone call.

Also as Biden delivered weapons while Israel was murdering US aid workers he directly violated US laws.

  • Reagan threatened Israel with cutting off all aid, unless they play ball. And they did.

Without the US supporting Israel its other allies would also abandon it quickly.

So all the US has to do to make Israel do what the US says is withhold support until Israel obeys.

What Biden did instead was throwing the US to the feet of Israel, at best rambling and making token gestures. So the US halted 2.000 pound bombs? That surely didnt stop Israel from annihilating people in Gaza with the other bombs the US kept delivering.

  • “The Repbulicans under Trump will end Democracy! Vote for us!”

“How about you use your legal powers to prevent a threat to Democracy? How about you run on a popular platform?”

“Yeah no, we don’t do that. Also we got Dick Cheney on board. Look at all the ghosts of Iraqi kids he murdered glooming behind him. Aren’t they cute? Also we will enact more policies for the good billionaires. #Vibes.”

  • Ironically the “Free Democrats” which are like a milktoast version of Musk style Neoliberalism/light Fascism, with recent endorsements of Musk by their party leadership, have gotten a good result in the previous election primarily because of their social media campaigns. Of course having the Axel-Springer Media heavily favor them also played a role. It is the publisher that recently had Musk endorse the fascist AfD party in an article.

But if you think this “Free Democrats” only recently got in bed with fascism, don’t worry. They were also the party with the most ex-NSDAP members after WW2 and they advocated for “looking past” the Nazi history in the 50s already.
