On Apple they were intentionally gimping your phone with updates and they got sued to change that practice. So you were correct to think that.
Captcha was never good at stopping bots. It was always used to identify who is a human. In other words exactly the opposite of what you think.
A couple years ago I read that Filecoin has teamed up with the internet archive to synchronize the data on the Blockchain. I’m not sure how far they are yet, but it’s something that could work if it doesn’t turn out to be just crypto hype in the end.
