  • I don’t think this has gotten an international or digital release. So, it would only be in Japanese theaters right now. The bot uses the AniList api to schedule posts, so it isn’t terribly useful for movies (most of the time), due to the really long delay between Japanese release vs. international.

  • One thing that I have really enjoyed about this show is how much Kenzaburo’s previous life experience has mattered. So many isekai has somebody basically just experience a fantasy story and their past life experiences don’t really matter that much (maybe they make mayonnaise or something like that). This show keeps relating Grace’s actions to Kenzaburo’s life experiences, so much so that he is as much a lead as Grace is.

The mom and daughter were great this episode. I hope we get their segments more consistently going forward now that the coma angle is introduced. The setup reminds me of Endo and Kobayashi Live!. If you have enjoyed this show, then that one might be worth checking out as well. I really liked that one, as much as I have been enjoying this one.

  • Ok, so something weird is going on for sure. The human combustion does seem to be unrelated to the world’s dumbest firebomber. Seriously, sending a threatening note just before planning to kill them and showing up to multiple scenes of the crime as it occurs are just basic criminal mistakes. Do better, anime villains…

I like that we are getting a new main cast member and it isn’t just Holmes and Watson Takao and Kotori traipsing around everywhere. Plus, she is already on board with the ship and is trying get it to set sail. @[email protected]

Next episode seems like the conclusion to this arc based on the title. I am glad that this mystery has remained a mystery for several episodes now with smaller mysteries to solve along the way. It is definitely an improvement over the opening two mysteries we solved.

  • I have been doing some catching up on backlog this week as work settled down a bit (especially with my manga reading). I managed to watch most of the shows I wanted to this past week. First off, the non-seasonal I watched:

    • Squid Girl - I knocked a couple more episodes of this out. It’s been quite a while since I last read the manga, and I don’t think they are going in any particular order, so some shorts I remember reading, and others I don’t. It’s been nice in a turn your brain off kind of way.

    Now, for this season’s shows:

    • My Happy Marriage - This show has been pretty consistently good so far this season. A kind of crazy cliffhangar last episode, so looking forward to the next one.
    • Ameku M.D. - A better episode this past week, but it was an incredibly misleading opening and episode title.
    • Apothecary Diaries - It’s kind of surprising that corpses and fungus were key components to both mystery shows this week. In any case, Apothecary definitely delivered the mystery better.
    • Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf - This show doesn’t reinvent the wheel by any means, but it definitely delivers on what it promises. Surprised at how much I am enjoying this.
    • Guild Receptionist - Finally some lore this past episode to explain her compulsion to be a receptionist. Interested to see if they can actually make sense of the story in this one.
    • Bureaucrat to Villainess - Biggest surprise for me this season. It has exceeded my expectations so far.
    • 100 Girlfriends - This series always finds some way to keep upping the insanity.
    • Beheneko - I checked this show out and it is wild. I don’t think it is for me, but I simultaneously surprised at both how interesting the world and other characters are as well as how absolutely degenerate the show is. Never change Japan. If you like this show, then good for you.
