I do know that unlike the rest of science medical science dealing with people often selects patients via hospitals and this introduces bias, intentional or hopefully accidental into the selection process. A great deal of patient history is known during selection, unhealthy patients not chosen for trial drugs but allowed onto the control. Maybe I am just getting cynical.
