Most people on LW that are from the US do not know what liberals are. They are often referring to “US libs” which, in most cases, say and do things that are anti-liberal or anti-libertarian. While this is apparent to most, to these Lemmings it is not due to the saturation of US media, social or otherwise.

In truth, a liberal supporting a fascist is as “classic lib move” as the anarchist fighting for an absolute monarchy. By definition, these things are impossible. So the joke is being told wrong due to being misinformed or to spread more of it.

Some times Person A can be so fallacious or incorrect, Person B may assume they’re intentionally wasting time by trolling, doubting that Person A is actually unintentionally that incompetent or incapable of discourse.

This usually starts when Person A ignores what Person B has said or starts applying common argument fallacies, seemingly for the sake of being right as a priority over empathising or broadening perspective.

Of my many years socialising on the Internet, it should be very rare to be called a troll; so much so that if it happens, it’s likely I’m being a total twat entirely out of touch with reality. So, if you’re finding this happens to you regularly, it may be food for thought to at least listen/read what someone is saying and ponder on it before responding. If you start wasting their time, prepare tocontinue being called a troll.

I don’t notice this in my country. Most bins have a cigarette bin attached and most smokers don’t just light up anywhere. It’s water bottles here instead.

No, you cannot touch base with me; I’m not into that. Go touch your own base, base toucher.

The idiom relies on a person being familiar with baseball, but even then it makes very little contextual sense.

I don’t think there was anything wrong with their decision. Pretty normal to take away passports and put 24/7 tracking on non-violent people awaiting court. Plus the last thing you want is Biden opponents to gain more empathy for the guy or have the whole, “Joe has to be hiding something he can’t let out” rhetoric.

I’m sure the Federal Judge has more sound reasoning, but the state judge didn’t rule anything unusual.

We have government regulators in Australia. Surprise, surprise, fees aren’t lengthy, can be explained, and are investigated by the “Consumer Watchdog”—literally what the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is called—if shit’s starting to look shady or unreasonable. We love capitalism, but we put a long socialism leash on it to reduce strain, deception, and fraud that makes victims of smaller businesses or individuals.

I love it. It makes a lot of shady ideas never leave the board room and if they do, chances are it ends up being really bad PR. All the while, playing the capitalism game well still nets high reward.
