Although, now that I’m an interviewer, I kind of despise FizzBuzz, because nobody thinks clearly during a high pressure interview.

Whenever possible, I love to talk with a candidate about some concrete past source code they claim to have written. I’ve better luck putting the candidate at ease and then talking through their contributions to the code.

Of course, when I get enough candidates who shared source code, I don’t even invite the ones who didn’t share source code for an interview.

Exactly.

If the tests pass, then everything is fine… Unless we expected the tests not to pass…then it’s time to burn the codebase down and try again after a long vacation to clear our heads.

Of course, I’ll usually settle for fixing the test suite after a long weekend. But in my heart, I’ll know what I should have done…

There’s no reason beyond maybe time crunch why you shouldn’t be able to dissect exactly what it does.

Usually it’s mysterious business logic from before the dawn fo time.

But, losing a little credibility now buys everyone time for their job search!

Hall effect joy cons (combined with Switch 1 game support) could have gotten a hardware purchase out of me, but I think they already missed on that?

Yeah. The Switch was incredibly compelling when I couldn’t get my hands on a SteamDeck, and before I had like six separate controllers die to joystick drift.

But now… Nintendo are the ones on the back foot. I look forward to playing with Mario again someday after Sonic teaches him how to lose gracefully and port his games to every platform.

There have been billionaires with billions of units of a worthless currency before. No one remembers them. They starved like anyone else.

Billionaires are insulated from almost every consequence of their actions. But the almost is important.

Our current crop of billionaires have lost any awareness of the almost, and they hope we will too.

Same, a 15 minute video is way too long. I would rather spend 15 hours debugging

I commented elsewhere in the thread that Casio is still a status symbol - just to to a different, more pragmatic, group of people. Then I saw this comment, lol.

I too love to rock a Casio, and recognize others who do as well.

Though lately I’ve been hooked on my PineTime Watch. It’s not as iconic as a Casio, but it costs about the same and does ship with a Casio immitation watch face pre-programmed.

I will stick with my Casio a158, thanks.

Lol. That’s a status symbol in different circles. Anyone I see someone wearing a classic Casio, I know we’re going to get along.

Yeah. I think we’re waiting for the kind of installers and updaters that WordPress achieved before we see typical businesses running their own Mastodon server.

But I do think many organizations have got the risk/reward wrong, by underestimating the risk, at the moment.
