The statement continued “Newark will not stand by idly while people are unlawfully terrorized.”

Unless this means that the mayor and police chief agree to deploy Newark Police to physically stop and detain ICE agents, knowing damn well that a confrontation could end in a bloodbath, that is exactly what they will do.

People need to get it through their heads that we are entering a period of federal lawlessness. They’re hoping you only have the balls to challenge them in court where they can tie things up for months or years while they do whatever they want and consolidate even more power, setting progressively darker precedents.

Read an anecdote of someone in a similar station who had a client file a complaint against them because their watch was too nice. See, he’s the employee who is servicing the client. He’s beneath the client. He can’t be wearing nicer stuff than the client.

I don’t know how these people look at themselves in the mirror every morning.

The way I’ve heard that they’ll get around that for now is that they will only provide logistics and clerical support and won’t be acting as armed law enforcement themselves. But watch very, very carefully for that envelope to be pushed as time goes on.
