  • I guess I didn’t see him as scripted or paid-for until that 4-guest GOP-a-thon, then it was blindingly obvious (and I’m not American, so I don’t even care about your politics).

I liked Joe because he never appeared to have any agenda, usually saw, or at least humoured both sides of an argument, and right or wrong (yes, he was plenty wrong), he was always at least genuine.

    Now, he’s just a 3-hour long commercial.

  • There’s literally video of Biden addressing the nation saying if you got the vaccine you would NOT. GET. COVID, nor get sick, or die. Would you like 20 or 30 links to that? Let me know because about 1000 news outsets reported on it.

I’m not anti-Biden or anti-vaccine, but he was wrong to say that, period, and Rogan called him out on it, which Rogan got slammed for, which he turned out to be absolutely right about.

It’s fools like you who blatantly, blindly pick a side with no nuance or care for any discussion. You’re like a MAGA mirror opposite.

  • For the record I’m against most of what Rogan says about most of his scientific statements, including most of his shit about COVID. He’s a meathead, but he has been saying for years that getting the vaccine doesn’t stop you getting the virus, which is correct.

If it butt hurts you and the mod censoring me because I’m open to things he says that are right instead of blanket-hating every word, you can both get into a 69 position with each other and make gargling sounds.

You hear that, trigger-happy mod? Now you have a reason to intervene. I come here once every 6 months so flex as hard as you need to, big man.

  • I’ve been a pretty consistent listener of Joe for a decade, since before he really gained true popularity. He’s never been perfect and he’s said and done a whole lot of dumb shit over the years, but I took him for entertainment and nothing more, so his missteps were always forgivable.

But last year’s Trump, Vance, Musk, and Gabbard interviews back-to-back on the eve of election proved to me without a shadow of a doubt that Joe Rogan is bought and sold, and I’ve not listened to him since.

I don’t hate him, but his appeal to me was that right or wrong, he was always at least genuine. Now he’s just a 3-hour advertisement.

In my opinion, what fucked him was reaching ‘escape velocity’ as he calls it. He knows he’s untouchable now so he’s stopped auto criticism.

  • Well, I disagree. I didn’t touch Reddit for a year and finally went back about a month ago.

    • THE ADS. Fuck me, the ads now!

    • The corporate plug-ins. I had a legit, verified business comment on my post and then PM me after it.

    • The videos freeze more often than makes me comfortable clicking on them.

    • The pop-up trash now; “follow this”, “click here”, “did you know”, “ICYMI”. The U.I looks like Yahoo’s home page now.

Is it dying? I don’t know. Is it exhibiting every square inch of desperation, turning the corner from what was once cool, to what is now every pixel monetised and sponsored? Yup!

  • If you stick it out here for long enough, three things will change.

    1. You’ll begin to really like it here. It’s different but it grows on you, and it’s growing with its users.
    2. Your addiction to these noticeboard-type socials will dramatically reduce. There’s something about Lemmy that’s less addictive in a good way.
    3. You’ll eventually go back to Reddit and see it with new eyes, realising just how quickly it’s dying.
