Man y’all keep using words like legal, constitutional, court order, etc… I just don’t know if y’all are understanding the situation. We’re well past legal.

Can I interest you in a “the wheels of justice take time” my friend? The Mueller Report will put Trump in his place any day now. Just wait patiently. 🙂

Can your food on your table take time? Can your home rent payment take time? Can your children’s school tuition take time?

And for how long? 1 year? 4 years?

Clearly you’re not one of those federal workers who are literally getting fired in disguise. Easy for you to spit out sentences like “Justice takes time”

The article explained why the appropriated funds can’t cover this and the limits promised exceed the amounts opm can pay people. It’s not that what he’s doing is illegal, it is that there is no legal way for his promises to be fulfilled. He can promise whatever he wants legally, there’s just no way to make it happen within the government.

Congress hasn’t passed a budget yet for the fiscal year, only a continuing resolution. The fiscal year started on Oct 1. So, Congress could include language that legalizes the buyout in the full budget, in theory*. There’s going to continue to be lawsuits against it before and after the budget becomes law. So, who knows what will happen in practice.

In any case, my take is anyone that took it will find that it won’t work out like they hoped. At a minimum they will have a stressful couple of months. At a maximum they will find that they screwed themselves.

*IANAL so apply appropriate skepticism to my Thursday evening quarterbacking.
