Summary

Congressional Democrats were blocked from entering USAID headquarters as they protested its planned shutdown by Trump and Elon Musk.

Lawmakers called the move illegal and harmful to national security, emphasizing USAID’s role in humanitarian aid, counterterrorism, and disease prevention.

Sen. Brian Schatz vowed to delay all State Department nominations until the issue is resolved.

The confrontation marks a growing standoff between Democrats and the Trump administration as they resist efforts to dismantle federal agencies.

Wouldn’t they need the Treasury systems to do that? The Treasury systems he is now in control of? (Granted, I’m not sure how asset freezes/seizures work at that level).
