I used to contribute, but I’ve mostly stopped even visiting Lemmy because of all the propaganda from places like Lemmy.ml. Totally killed my excitement for it.

all of the communities i follow are deathly silent, kinda hard to contribute when you have nothing worthwhile to post and nothing you can comment on
Yeah many communities I’m interested in have so little users and even less people who post/comment. Some are inactive for days

Ok really dumb question (this was an issue for me with Reddit during the before time as well): I seem to only notice threads that have existed for a while, so I normally see something similar to what I would have said already posted as a comment. Should I be using Lemmy differently, to see younger threads?
Lemmy on its web interface has a sorting option called scaled sorting. Which allows to bring up rising threads that are a few hours old.
Note: not all mobile apps have integrated scaled sorting. So you need to do some investigation.
…and reading further in the comments says sort by new, but I’m already doing that lol
