America has constantly let its veterans down. They just call them heros and then casually toss them aside to die. Whether it’s the black veterans after ww1 and 2, Vietnam vets, Iraq war vets, gay veterans dishonorably discharged, immigrant veterans being deported, and now Trans veterans
For the past 50 years the American military has only done imperialism.War criminals need not be honored. Their sexual orientation is not relevant.

My boss is a vet and we’re the same age. Guy tells his kids not to join the military and be messed up like he is.
My dad got drafted into Vietnam. He was real, real hard against me joining up (for college money). This was before 9/11, but only just.
So I would have ended up in Afghanistan probably. Glad I didn’t.
It’s been like that forever.

It’s so sad honestly but I’m grateful that we know his name and we can celebrate him for his sacrifice, as unnecessary as we all wish it was.
