Summary

Elon Musk’s team is reportedly gaining control over key U.S. government operations.

His Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) officials have clashed with Treasury staff over access to federal payment systems, which handle $6 trillion annually.

Reports indicate Musk aides have locked civil servants out of government databases and are reviewing tech operations across agencies.

Originally intended as an external advisory body, DOGE was instead integrated into the government by Trump’s executive order, giving Musk a direct role in federal operations.

Let the First Corporate War begin.

My money is on Palmer Luckey, he actually runs a weapons tech company and owns a special ops fast insertion boat with a .50 machine gun. Plus he has a grudge to settle with Zuck (who ironically fired him for funding Trump during his first election).

I can verify this! My roommate works for the DOD. He can’t tell me much, but every federal worker has been warned they’re going to be purged and replaced with staff Elon chooses. In addition, mandatory Return To Work orders have meant that many of his coworkers will be let go for “missing work” despite the fact that the military knows they moved and they’ve been working remotely for almost 5 years. It’s skuzzy as fuck.

They won’t be able to fill every position, and most of the new people won’t have a clue how to do their job. In a scenario where the military starts being used in conflicts on American soil, this is an opportunity.

An unelected billionaire who was appointed by the president to the head of a department he made up is gaining massive control of the federal government.

This unelected billionaire is an unapologetic nazi. He did a Nazi salute twice at the inauguration. He spreads Nazi ideology on his social media platform. He supports international Nazi causes. He is an open white supremacist on his social media platform and an open anti-semite.

He’s now being given essentially limitless control over all federal agencies of the United States government. The Nazi takeover of America is already complete.

If this is all it takes to tank this country, we probably fucking deserve it.

      What a joke.

Take a look at South Korea for a comparison…

Considering the near-complete silence from almost all democrats, I’m beginning to believe that this is something that America was already leaning into anyway, and that Trump is a nice patsy to blame it on.

How they (the entirety of the government) can sit back idly — throwing out occasional soundbites for good measure — and allow this to happen makes me feel defeated.

Freedom and liberty were the just the rose that held the thorns of fascism.

Edit: I feel like I should add that I am in no way trying to alleviate Trump from any guilt that he deserves. Calling him a patsy just seems like I’m letting him off. I’m certainly not. The guy is a total piece of trash.

FFS Democrats are talking against this. It’s just that they’re irrelevant because the US electorate made them irrelevant. The people that voted for this and the people that didn’t vote at all allowed this to happen. Americans need to start taking responsibility for their own actions or inaction instead of constantly looking for someone else to blame.

Totally agree. I’m not sure when Americans became so complacent that they’d rather quietly observe than, say, protest.

Looking back on the Civil Rights movement, for example, Americans did what was necessary and right. Same goes for protesting the Vietnam War. Even as recent as BLM protests. It just seems oddly quiet to me lately.

Elon is a billionaire. The democrats won’t seriously do anything to anger billionaires, any more than they would do something to anger Israel. They know who pads their wallets, and they aren’t in politics to help the people. They’re there to get paid by the special interests that actually run the country.

Cant they just piss off one billionaire at a time?

Honestly if they just work down the list I’d be happy just to get to Page. He’s at #6 and isn’t even at half of Musks wealth.

This has been obvious to anyone paying attention for the last 20 years. The Democratic party started courting billionaires for donations just like the Republicans and stopped giving a shit about anything else.

There are a few Dems in Congress that try to work within the system to accomplish actual change. But the vast majority generally just follow the party and work towards the same goals, and a few break away occasionally when it suits them. The Dems have not been actively fighting against the shift to the right for decades. They helped shift the entire country further to the right until we now have open fascism, we allowed an attempted insurrection to go unpunished, and a 34x convicted felon in the White House, and that’s apparently acceptable. The Democratic party establishment is 100% ok with helping to facilitate it.

Exactly. They blatantly sabotage Bernie Sanders, preventing arguably the last sane politician available.

More than that, Democrats have gradually shifted right over time, so what is considered “liberal” these days is actually closer to older generations of Republicans prior to Reagan.

        I don’t think there’s a true left-leaning party in America anymore.

Keep in mind that Hitler came to become the chancellor of Germany not by being elected, but by being appointed by the president.

Hitler could not have come to power without the large section of German voters who rallied to his populist rhetoric and joined in his scapegoating of Jews and Communists for the capitalist crisis of the Great Depression. But it was not their votes that secured his power; nor was it their interests that guided his policies. He placed himself — his paranoia and megalomania, his rabid anti-Semitism, his promises of Aryan greatness sealed in a thousand-year Reich — at the service of Germany’s industrial and financial elite.
